History

Nepal and the Kingdom of Bahrain established diplomatic relations on 13 January 1977. The cooperation and understanding between the two countries have been growing over the years to the satisfaction of both countries.

Taking into account the country’s national interests, the welfare and services needed to the ever growing Nepalese community in the Kingdom and also the realization for further broadening and deepening the bilateral relations, the Government of Nepal decided to open a residential Embassy in Manama, Kingdom of Bahrain in 2013. Subsequently, the Government of Nepal appointed Dr. Durga Bahadur Subedi, Chargé d’Affaires as its first residential Head of Mission in Manama entrusting him to set up the mission and commence its services.

The first residential Embassy of Nepal was opened in Manama on 1 September 2013. Earlier, the Embassy of Nepal in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia was concurrently accredited to Bahrain.
