Embassy of Nepal in Bahrain hosted Diplomatic Reception on the occasion of Constitution Day and National Day of Nepal
On 23 September 2024, the Embassy of Nepal in Manama, Bahrain, hosted a diplomatic reception program to commemorate Nepal’s Constitution Day and National Day. The event took place at The Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel in Manama. Gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest was H.E. Mohamed bin Thamir AlKaabi, Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, Kingdom of Bahrain and the Guest of Honour was H.E. Ambassador Dr. Isa Nasser Al Noaimi, the Secretary for Consular and Administrative Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain. The gathering included senior officials from the Bahraini Foreign Ministry and Labour Ministry, Ambassadors and representatives of diplomatic missions in Bahrain, academia, business leaders, journalists, prominent individuals and friends of Nepal. Additionally, leaders of Nepali organizations and members of the Nepali community in Bahrain also attended the reception making it a gathering of approximately 250 attendees.
During his welcoming speech at the event, Ambassador Tirtha Raj Wagle expressed his heartfelt appreciation to all the attendees, extending gratitude for their well wishes and support towards Nepal and Nepali people on the occasion of Nepal’s Constitution Day and National Day. Ambassador Wagle highlighted the inclusive features of the Constitution and mentioned about the Government’s initiatives on economic reforms, good governance and public service delivery. Furthermore, he underscored Nepal’s rich cultural diversity, emphasizing its significance for tourism, recreational activities, trade and investment opportunities.
Ambassador Wagle noted the longstanding cordial relations between Nepal and the Kingdom of Bahrain, which was established in 1977, and conveyed profound gratitude towards His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Crown Prince, Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, the Bahraini government and its people. He mentioned the close collaboration between the two nations across various sectors, including trade, tourism, investment, and employment. He commended Bahraini authorities and employers for their care, empathy, and provision of employment opportunities to Nepali workers in Bahrain. The ambassador also highlighted the valuable role played by the Nepali community in Bahrain in strengthening these friendly ties.
During the event, an ensemble of prominent guests, including the Minister of Transport and Telecommunications, the Undersecretary for Administrative and Consular Affairs from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, jointly participated in the cake-cutting ceremony. The program also featured a cultural musical performance by a group of Nepalis in Bahrain. Furthermore, attendees had the opportunity to explore various facets of Nepali arts and culture, such as traditional Nepali musical instruments, traditional woodwork, Dhaka Topi, and other cultural items. The guests were also introduced to the diverse tourist attractions in Nepal through the displayed banners and tourism promotional videos.
As part of the event, guests received thoughtful gifts, including Nepali tea, brochures, and tourism photos related to Nepal’s tourism. To conclude the evening, a delightful dinner featuring Nepali cuisine was served to all those in attendance. Ms. Sujana Aryal, Deputy Chief of the Embassy, emceed the program.
