Celebration of the 2570th Buddha Jayanti in Bahrain on 1 May 2026

The Embassy of Nepal in the Kingdom of Bahrain organized a special programme on 1 May 2026 to commemorate the 2570th Buddha Jayanti. The event marked the observance of Day of Vesak (Buddha Purnima), commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and passing of the Buddha.

In his remarks, Ambassador Tirtha Raj Wagle underscored the enduring significance of the Lord Buddha’s teachings on peace, compassion, and selfless service. He highlighted Nepal’s focus on tourism promotion, economic and cultural diplomacy, including the development of Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha.

The Ambassador took the opportunity to extend greetings on the occasion of International Labour Day. He emphasized the importance of labour awareness, skills development, health and well-being.

The Ambassador also conveyed greetings on the occasion of Ubhauli Parva, noting its significance in reflecting harmony with nature.

Labour Attaché of the Embassy Ms. Sunita Thapa extended greetings and reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to the protection of workers’ rights and welfare. She informed that the Embassy will be holding labour awareness interactions also through Facebook Live platform.

Speaking on behalf of the attending Nepali community members, Mr. Birendra Tumbapo, Chairman of the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) in Bahrain highlighted the significance of the special celebration program.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic community participation and featured puja and butter lamp lighting.

Mr. Deep Raj Joshi, Third Secretary of the Embassy, facilitated the programme and delivered the vote of thanks.
